Contributing to Bird Surveys

Many of our passionate members contribute throughout the seasons to meaningful citizen science monitoring programs by preforming bird surveys.  Please see below for a list of programs in southwestern Idaho.

  • North American Breeding Bird Surveys - The United States Geological Survey's Patuxent Wildlife Research Center and Environment Canada's Canadian Wildlife Service run one of the most complete survey systems in the world to monitor North American bird populations.
  • City of Boise - Bird Surveys
  • Hyatt monthly surveys
  • East Cascade Audubon Society's Winter Raptor Surveys - Our fellow chapter to the West has been collecting data on winter raptor populations by creating and surveying driving routes in Oregon and Idaho for the past 8 years.
  • Idaho Fish & Game Department's Winter Boise River Aquatic Bird Surveys - IDFG and volunteers help monitor water birds along the Greenbelt from Lucky Peak Dam to Eagle each winter.

Membership starts at just $20/year and supports our programs, education, conservation, and advocacy work.
