State of the Great Salt Lake

State of the Great Salt Lake

Pulled back from the brink of collapse by 2023's historic snowpack, the Great Salt Lake ecosystem remains threatened by upstream water diversion and overconsumption. Over the last five years, meaningful progress has been made to reform water policy and invest in protections for the Lake. But achieving long-term restoration for this globally-important ecosystem will take much more conservation, cooperation, and commitment. Katie Newburn is the Education & Outreach Director for FRIENDS of Great Salt Lake. Katie brings thousands of students to Great Salt Lake each year through the Lakeside Learning Field Trip program.
