How to Use DIY Window Paint Templates

Step 1: Gather Materials

You’ll need a medium tip oil-based window marker, dot template, rubbing alcohol, and paper towels. Cotton swabs are helpful for cleaning up mistakes.

Make sure your windows are clean before you get started.

Step 2: Align Template

Prime your marker on a spare piece of cardboard to make sure the paint is flowing freely.

Align the template snugly into the bottom corner of your window to make sure it is square. Start painting the dots!

Step 3: Repeat!

Re-align the template over dots you’ve filled in to ensure you have the correct spacing. The paint dries quickly, but be careful not to smudge if it’s still wet! Keep moving in the same direction up the window to keep an even alignment.

It only takes 20 minutes to paint a 24x36” window and one marker covers over 25 square feet!
